United Nations Day 2014

United Nations Day 2014 was a fun day of celebrating our diversity.  We kicked off the day with an assembly at the High School Gym where we watched the Parade of Nations as represented by our school.  Fifty-five flags were marched in by 110 children all colorfully dressed in native costumes from various countries. After singing some songs and watching and being inspired by the SAS Dancers we headed back to the classroom where the children's parents met us for a reading of Todd Parr's book titled The Peace Book.  Then the children and their parents collaborated to created their own peace book by answering the question "What peace means to me?" .  Finally, we ended with an International Luncheon with food from the various counties as represented by the student in Mr. Larson's class.  It was a fun and delicious time together.
